10 Surefire Ways to Lower Your Electric bills

1) Turn off lights you're not using.  Just flip the switch and stop wasting power every day.

2) Be sensible about the lights you use. Install dimmers and decrease the wattage of your light bulbs. Use motion sensors outdoors.

3) Adjust your thermostat! An ac unit uses an extreme amount of electricity when its running. Set the temperature to 78 degrees during summer months so the air conditioner won't run as much. Turn it down during the winter.

4) Install an electric thermostat. It can be set to  adjust temperature automatically to save energy when you're gone.

5) Watch your refrigerator! Your refrigerator uses tremendous amounts of energy.  Clean the coils to remove dust. Open the door with short intervals. Keep it defrosted regularly.

6) Use your appliances less frequently. Make sure your dryer has a full load or dry your clothes outside. Use the microwave as often as possible. Don't forget to turn off the coffee!

7) Keep your water heater temp at 120 degrees.

8) Use only compact fluorescent bulbs. They cost more but can last thirteen times longer than standard light bulbs.

9) Open your windows and let the sun shine in! You can control glare with coverings. Install mirrors around the room to let the bounce off of.

10) Change your electricity provider to a company that offers lower rates!

You may not see much of a difference if you use only a few methods, but by using all of these methods you can dramatically lower your electric bill.
